Angelina Jolie Turns 37: Reasons Why She Should Celebrate
Angelina Jolie is celebrating her 37th birthday on Monday, June 4. Based on everything that is going on in the actress's life, she should have no problem finding reasons to celebrate. With a flourishing career and a family that never seems to stop growing, we shouldn't be surprised to see the Oscar winning star drop a smile when the cameras take her picture. As one of the most recognizable stars in the world, Jolie is never too far away from grabbing a tabloid headline. Despite that, the actress will likely find some time to enjoy her special day with the people she loves the most. Here are just a few reasons why she should be especially happy to celebrate this year.
She's engaged
After a long romance with fellow superstar Brad Pitt, Jolie finally has that shiny stone on her finger. The "Moneyball" star popped the question to his longtime companion in April, giving her a ring that he personally designed. We are all wondering when the big day will arrive for the two superstars but as of now no date is set. Right now the two seem content to enjoy the engagement along with their six children.
She's branching out
Apparently not content on just performing in front of a camera, the actress recently took on the role of a director. She got behind the camera for her 2011 debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey." The acclaimed film deals with the war in Bosnia, a subject that isn't often tackled in Hollywood. The movie earned a Golden Globe nomination as one of the best foreign language films. Based on her success, it is a safe bet that she will be directing more mov! ies in t he future.
She is still fighting the good fight
For years the actress has been one of the biggest humanitarians in the acting community and she isn't slowing down. She has spent more than decade as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations and her role was expanded in April. "UNHCR is pleased to announce today that Angelina Jolie will take on a new and expanded role for the U.N. refugee agency as Special Envoy of High Commissioner Antonio Guterres," said a spokesman for the organization on Jolie's new role. That doesn't sound like she is content with all that she has done so far.
