Angelina Jolie Fans Get Glimpse of 'Blood and Honey'
Angelina Jolie's made her directing debut when the promotional trailer for, "In The Land of Blood and Honey," hit theaters Friday. Viewers were given a brief preview of the movie set in Bosnia about violence, love and war, Reuters reports.
The film trailer is filled with romantic scenes and war footage, representing a love story between a Serbian man and a Bosnian-Muslim woman who are forced to separate in the 1992 Bosnian conflicts.
While shooting the film last year, the movie caused controversy in Bosnia. A government minister cancelled a permit for the film shoot after hearing a complaint from the head of a group of female war victims. She objected to the movie because it was about a woman was falling in love with her enemy.
In response, Jolie requested that people wait until the final version of the movie and withhold their judgment.
"There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters and that will be revealed once the film is released," Jolie said last year, according to Reuters.
Jolie chose to cast unknown Bosnian actors Zana Marjanovic and Goran Kostic to play the star-crossed lovers in order to make the story as genuine as possible.
She also wanted two versions of the film released so she filmed scenes at the same time in the English and Serbo-Croat languages. "In The Land of Blood and Honey" will make its debut in U.S. theaters on December 23.
