Hollywood star Angelina Jolie and her six children wrapped up their five-day retreat at the beautiful Con Dao Island off Vietnams southern coast on Wednesday (November 16).

The family, except for Brad Pitt who is in South Korea, boarded a plane back to Ho Chi Minh City before heading to Korea to reunite with Pitt.

Jolie brought with her six palm-leaf conical hats as souvenirs of Vietnam, the home country of her 8-year-old adopted son Pax Thien.

After a bus drove the family and their entourage straight to the foot of the plane and the kids all boarded, Jolie made an unexpected gesture: leading the oldest, Maddox, and Pax Thien back to the airport to say thanks and goodbye to the airport staff.

She guided Pax Thien to say Hello and Thank you to airport employees, an officer told Thanh Nien, adding that the boy seemed a bit shy.

The couple and their six children arrived in HCMC last Thursday (November 10), bringing Pax Thien back to Vietnam for the first time since he was adopted in 2007.

The family lunched at Cuc Gach restaurant a day later, where they enjoyed traditional Vietnamese food before heading to Con Dao Island off the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau the same day.

Pitt, Jolie, Cambodian-born Maddox, Ethiopian-born Zahara, Pax Thien, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, together with eight assistants and bodyguards, spent their vacation at the Six Senses resort on the island.

They were spotted playing on the beach in some photos taken by local paparazzi, who said it was extremely hard to approach the famous family given the army of bodyguards ordered to not tolerate any camer! as.

On Sunday (November 13), Pitt and Jolie left their kids at the hotel while they toured the notorious Con Son tiger cages, a prison first built by the colonial French to imprison political prisoners and later used by the Americans and South Vietnam regime during the Vietnam War.

A day later, Pitt left the island for South Korea to promote his latest movie, Moneyball.

Pax Thien, whose Vietnamese name was Pham Quang Sang, was adopted by the couple in 2007 from Tam Binh Orphanage in HCMC.

In an interview with the Financial Times in July, Jolie, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, said, We owe Vietnam a visit, because Pax is due.

Jolie told the Financial Times that she and Pitt, 47, emphasize the importance of educating their children about their native countries.

They are all learning about each others' cultures, as well as [are] proud of their own. They all have their flags over their beds, and their individual pride, she said.
